Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessel for Inland, Great Lakes and Near Coastal Water

Welcome to The Nautical School's Upgrade to Master 200 Tons (On-line) Masters license course. 

This course permits a student who already holds an 100 Ton Masters license, to increase the scope of their license to a MASTERS license up to 200 gross tons - subject to the size limit qualified for (near coastal, inland or inland with Great Lakes) specified on your new license. 

There are twelve modules for this course. Successful completion of the course and exams will result in the issuance of a certificate that will be included with your application to request a raise in the scope of your license application for Master - up to 200 GT upon Near Coastal waters -  (out to two-hundred miles from the boundary line). 

When you complete the course, you should contact the Nautical School at (631) 226-7300, ext. 205, to schedule for your proctored exams. You'll need to complete one examination consisting of 50-questions with a passing grade of 70%. You may take each of those exams up to three times. There is no cost for any of our examinations.

Online Master 25, 50, 100 Gross Tons

This USCG Master's License is the highest level license that you can acquire.  This Master license allows you to operate as Captain on an inspected vessel that is authorized to carry more than 6 passengers for hire. You may also work as captain of an uninspected (6-pack) boat carrying up to 6 passengers plus crew.

The USCG does NOT require that you first get a Six-Pack License, so you can skip the Six-Pack and go straight to your Masters! There are two additional online endorsements that can be added to your license.

 

This 25/50 or 100 Ton course is course is designed for those pursuing a professional career in commercial boat operations as well as recreational boaters seeking to increase their knowledge. This Master course supplements your OUPV course in areas of safety, buoyancy and stability, emergency procedures, vessel construction and many other topics. Whether you’re getting your Master license to work in the industry at some point or for personal enrichment, you’ll find this course a must have major upgrade to your Merchant Mariner Credential.



Online Commercial Assistance Towing (CAT Endorsement)

This CAT endorsement is for captains who potentially wish to work on assistance towing vessels (i.e. Seatow®, TowboatUS®) or may offer the services directly for hire.

 

Any USCG licensed captain - from OUPV up to Master - is eligible and for this valuable CAT endorsement. Once on your license, it remains there indefinitely whether or not you engage in CAT.

 

 Written Exam:

As with all of our courses, no tests at the Coast Guard are required. Upon completion of this 4-hour online course, you will take written final exam administered at The Nautical School. To sit for a proctored exam you simply call The Nautical School to arrange for the multiple-choice 20-question examination.




Online Auxiliary Sail Endorsement 

Any Master licensed captain who wishes to operate an inspected sail vessel for hire, must have an Auxiliary Sail endorsement added to his or her license. To add the Sailing Endorsement on to your Master License you must document at least 180 days on a sail or auxiliary sailing vessel. This USCG approved course will cover all required information enabling the captain to operate inspected sailing vessels carrying more than 6 passengers for hire.

Written Exam:
